The Sun (Al-Shams)

15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)

In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful

By the sun and its midmorning, 1 By the moon when it followeth it, 2 by the day when it brightens the earth, 3 by the night, when it envelops it! 4 By the Firmament and its (wonderful) structure; 5 And the earth and Him Who extended it, 6 And the soul and Him Who made it perfect, 7 and inspired it with its sin and its piety, 8 Prosperous is he who purifies it, 9 and those who corrupt their souls will certainly be deprived (of happiness). 10 The people of Thamud rejected (the truth) as a result of their rebelliousness 11 When among them the great wretch arose, 12 So Allah's apostle said to them (Leave alone) Allah's she-camel, and (give) her (to) drink. 13 Then they belied him and they hamstrung her; wherefore their Lord overwhelmed them for their crime, and made it equal. 14 He does not fear the result (of their destruction). 15
