The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the sun and its heat and brightness, 1 And by the moon as it follows it (the sun); 2 And [by] the day when it displays it 3 And the night when it draws a veil over it, 4 The heavens and its architecture, 5 And [by] the earth and He who spread it 6 And a soul and Him Who perfected it 7 Then He inspired it to understand what is right and wrong for it; 8 He who purifies it will prosper, 9 And miserable is he who hath buried it. 10 The Thamud denied (the truth) in their perverseness 11 when the most wretched of them uprose, 12 The Messenger of God told them, "This is a she-camel, belonging to God. Do not deprive her of her share of water". 13 But they cried him lies, and hamstrung her, so their Lord crushed them for their sin, and leveled them: 14 He does not fear the result (of their destruction). 15
