The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
And by the sun and its brightness; 1 and by the moon when she follows him, 2 Consider the day as it reveals the world, 3 and by the night when it draws a veil over it, 4 by the heavens and that (Power) which established them, 5 and by the earth and how He spread it, 6 By the Soul, and the proportion and order given to it; 7 and imbued it with (the consciousness of) its evil and its piety: 8 Truly he succeeds that purifies it, 9 And he fails that corrupts it! 10 (The tribe of) Thamud denied (the truth) in their rebellious pride, 11 when their arch-criminal rose up in rage. 12 So Allah's apostle said to them (Leave alone) Allah's she-camel, and (give) her (to) drink. 13 Then they belied him and they hamstrung her; wherefore their Lord overwhelmed them for their crime, and made it equal. 14 And He fears not its consequence. 15
True are the words of God the Almighty.
