The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
And by the sun and its brightness; 1 And by the moon as it follows it (the sun); 2 Consider the day as it reveals the world, 3 And the night when it draws a veil over it, 4 By the heaven and Who built it, 5 The earth and its spreading out, 6 And the soul and Him Who made it perfect, 7 and inspired it with knowledge of evil and piety, 8 those who purify their souls will certainly have everlasting happiness 9 And he fails that corrupts it! 10 Samood gave the lie (to the truth) in their inordinacy, 11 When the most wretched of them was sent forth. 12 So the Noble Messenger of Allah said to them, “Stay away from the she camel of Allah, and from its turn to drink.” 13 However, they rejected him and slew her. So their Lord completely destroyed them and their city for their sins. 14 And He feared not the consequence thereof 15
