The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the sun and his brightness, 1 and by the moon as it follows it, 2 and by the day as it reveals its glory 3 and by the night as it envelopes the sun; 4 And by the heaven and Him Who built it; 5 and by the earth and how He spread it, 6 By the soul and Him Who propertioned it, 7 And inspired it (with conscience of) what is wrong for it and (what is) right for it. 8 He is indeed successful who causeth it to grow, 9 And he who confines it will surely come to grief. 10 Thamood cried lies in their insolence 11 Behold, the most wicked man among them was deputed (for impiety). 12 Then the apostle of Allah said unto them: beware of the she-camel of Allah and her drink. 13 However, they rejected him and slew her. So their Lord completely destroyed them and their city for their sins. 14 He did not fear the consequences. 15
