The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By oath of the sun and its light 1 By the moon when it followeth it, 2 And the day when it revealeth him, 3 and by the night as it envelopes the sun; 4 And the heaven and Him Who built it, 5 And by the earth and Him Who spread it, 6 And the soul and Him Who made it perfect, 7 and inspired it to lewdness and godfearing! 8 those who purify their souls will certainly have everlasting happiness 9 and failed has he who seduces it. 10 Thamood cried lies in their insolence 11 when the most wicked man among them rose up. 12 then the Messenger of God said to them, 'The She-camel of God; let her drink!' 13 Then they belied him and they hamstrung her; wherefore their Lord overwhelmed them for their crime, and made it equal. 14 and He fears not the issue thereof. 15
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
