The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the Sun and his (glorious) splendour; 1 And by the moon as it follows it (the sun); 2 The day when it reveals his radiance, 3 By the night when it envelopeth it, 4 And by oath of the heaven and by oath of Him Who made it. 5 by the earth and Who spread it, 6 By the soul and Him Who propertioned it, 7 And inspired it (with conscience of) what is wrong for it and (what is) right for it. 8 Indeed successful is the one who made it pure. 9 and failed is he who buried it! 10 In their presumptuous insolence the Thamud called the Truth a lie 11 When the basest of them broke forth 12 Then Allah's Messenger warned them: “Hands off the she-camel and her drink!” 13 But they belied him, and hamstrung her. So their Lord crushed them for their sin and leveled it (their village). 14 And He does not fear the consequence thereof. 15
