The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the sun and its brightness 1 and by the moon when she follows him, 2 And the day when it shows it, 3 And the night when it draws a veil over it, 4 The heavens and its architecture, 5 and by the earth and how He spread it, 6 By the soul and Him Who propertioned it, 7 Then He showed him what is wrong for him and what is right for him; 8 He will indeed be successful who purifies it, 9 And he has failed who instills it [with corruption]. 10 Thamud belied in their exorbitance. 11 When the most wicked among them stood up in defiance. 12 And the messenger of Allah said: It is the she-camel of Allah, so let her drink! 13 Then they belied him and they hamstrung her; wherefore their Lord overwhelmed them for their crime, and made it equal. 14 And He does not fear the consequence thereof. 15
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
