The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I CALL TO witness the sun and his early morning splendour, 1 By the moon when it followeth it, 2 and by the day when it displays him 3 and by the night as it envelopes the sun; 4 By the Firmament and its (wonderful) structure; 5 The earth and its spreading out, 6 The soul and how it was integrated 7 And inspired it [with discernment of] its wickedness and its righteousness, 8 prosperous is he who purified it, 9 And he who confines it will surely come to grief. 10 Thamud (people) denied (their Prophet) through their transgression (by rejecting the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism, and by following polytheism, and by committing every kind of sin). 11 When the basest of them broke forth 12 And the messenger of Allah said: It is the she-camel of Allah, so let her drink! 13 Then they rejected him (as a false prophet), and they hamstrung her. So their Lord, on account of their crime, obliterated their traces and made them equal (in destruction, high and low)! 14 and He fears not the issue thereof. 15
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
