Al-Shams
The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
CONSIDER the sun and its radiant brightness, 1 And the moon as she follows in his wake, 2 by the day, when it displays it, 3 And by the night as it conceals it (the sun); 4 And by oath of the heaven and by oath of Him Who made it. 5 And [by] the earth and He who spread it 6 by the soul and Who shaped it 7 and inspired it with its sin and its piety, 8 Prosperous is he who purifies it, 9 and he who suppresses it will be ruined. 10 The Thamud tribe rejected the truth because of their arrogance, 11 When the basest of them broke forth 12 the Messenger of Allah said to them: '(This is) the shecamel of Allah, let her drink' 13 Then they rejected him (as a false prophet), and they hamstrung her. So their Lord, on account of their crime, obliterated their traces and made them equal (in destruction, high and low)! 14 for none [of them] had any fear of what might befall them. 15
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
