Al-Shams
The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the sun and its rising brightness 1 and the moon as it reflects the sun! 2 Consider the day as it reveals the world, 3 The night when it covers him over, 4 And the heaven and Him Who made it, 5 The earth and its spreading out, 6 And a soul and Him Who perfected it 7 And given the faculty of knowing what is disruptive and what is intrinsic to it. 8 He has succeeded who purifies it, 9 and he who corrupts it is sure to fail. 10 Thamud (people) denied (their Prophet) through their transgression (by rejecting the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism, and by following polytheism, and by committing every kind of sin). 11 What time the greatest wretch of them rose up. 12 And the apostle of God had to tell them: "This is God's she-camel, let her drink." 13 But they denied him, and they hamstrung her, so Allah doomed them for their sin and rased (their dwellings). 14 And He does not fear the consequence thereof. 15
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
