The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the sun and its morning brightness, 1 And the moon when it follows the sun, 2 by the day when it brightens the earth, 3 and the night as it veils it darkly! 4 And by oath of the heaven and by oath of Him Who made it. 5 and by the earth and how He spread it, 6 And [by] the soul and He who proportioned it 7 And inspired it (with conscience of) what is wrong for it and (what is) right for it. 8 He who purifies it will indeed be successful, 9 and those who corrupt their souls will certainly be deprived (of happiness). 10 The tribe of Thamud denied with rebellion. 11 when the most wicked man among them rose up. 12 Then Allah's Messenger warned them: “Hands off the she-camel and her drink!” 13 But they called him a liar and slaughtered her, therefore their Lord crushed them for their sin and levelled them (with the ground). 14 and He fears not the issue thereof. 15
