The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the sun and its brightness 1 And [by] the moon when it follows it 2 And by the day as it shows up (the sun's) brightness; 3 And the night when it enshroudeth him, 4 And by the heaven and Him Who built it; 5 And by the earth and Him Who spread it, 6 and by the soul and by Him Who perfectly proportioned it, 7 and inspired it to lewdness and godfearing! 8 He who purifies it will indeed be successful, 9 And he is indeed a failure who stunteth it. 10 Thamud (people) denied (their Prophet) through their transgression (by rejecting the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism, and by following polytheism, and by committing every kind of sin). 11 When the basest of them broke forth 12 But the Messenger of Allah said to them: "It is a She-camel of Allah! And (bar her not from) having her drink!" 13 But they denied him and hamstrung her. So their Lord brought down upon them destruction for their sin and made it equal [upon all of them]. 14 He dreadeth not the sequel (of events). 15
