The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the sun and its brightness 1 And by oath of the moon when it follows the sun 2 Consider the day as it reveals the world, 3 The night when it covers him over, 4 The heavens and its architecture, 5 by the earth and Who spread it, 6 and by the soul and by Him Who perfectly proportioned it, 7 and inspired it with its sin and its piety, 8 He is indeed successful who causeth it to grow, 9 And indeed he fails who corrupts his ownself (i.e. disobeys what Allah has ordered by rejecting the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism or by following polytheism, etc. or by doing every kind of evil wicked deeds). 10 Thamood cried lies in their insolence 11 What time the greatest wretch of them rose up. 12 And the messenger of Allah said: It is the she-camel of Allah, so let her drink! 13 But they belied him, and hamstrung her. So their Lord crushed them for their sin and leveled it (their village). 14 And He (Allah) feared not the consequences thereof. 15
