The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the sun and its morning brightness, 1 By the Moon as she follows him; 2 By the day when it glorifieth it. 3 The night when it covers him over, 4 And by the heaven and Him Who built it; 5 by the earth and that (Power) which spread it out 6 By the soul and Him Who propertioned it, 7 And inspired it with the wickedness thereof and the piety thereof, 8 Indeed successful is the one who made it pure. 9 and he who suppresses it will be ruined. 10 The Thamud denied (the truth) in their perverseness 11 when the most wicked man among them rose up. 12 Then the apostle of Allah said unto them: beware of the she-camel of Allah and her drink. 13 But they denied him and hamstrung her. So their Lord brought down upon them destruction for their sin and made it equal [upon all of them]. 14 God is not afraid of the result of what He had decreed. 15
True are the words of God the Almighty.
