The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the sun and its noon-time brightness, 1 And by the moon as it follows it (the sun); 2 And the day when it shows it, 3 The night when it covers him over, 4 By the heaven and Who built it, 5 And the earth and Him Who spread it, 6 And the soul and Him Who made it perfect, 7 Then He inspired it to understand what is right and wrong for it; 8 Prosperous is he who purifies it, 9 And he has failed who instills it [with corruption]. 10 Thamood cried lies in their insolence 11 when the most wretched of them uprose, 12 But the Messenger of Allah [Salih (Saleh)] said to them: "Be cautious! Fear the evil end. That is the she-camel of Allah! (Do not harm it) and bar it not from having its drink!" 13 But they belied him, and hamstrung her. So their Lord crushed them for their sin and leveled it (their village). 14 He does not fear the result (of their destruction). 15
