The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Sun and his (glorious) splendour; 1 by the moon, which follows it, 2 Consider the day as it reveals the world, 3 and the night as it veils it darkly! 4 By the heaven and Who built it, 5 And the earth and Him Who extended it, 6 And a soul and Him Who perfected it 7 and inspired it with knowledge of evil and piety, 8 Indeed he succeeds who purifies his ownself (i.e. obeys and performs all that Allah ordered, by following the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism and by doing righteous good deeds). 9 And indeed he fails who corrupts his ownself (i.e. disobeys what Allah has ordered by rejecting the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism or by following polytheism, etc. or by doing every kind of evil wicked deeds). 10 The people of Thamud rejected (the truth) as a result of their rebelliousness 11 when the most wicked of them broke forth, 12 And the messenger of Allah said: It is the she-camel of Allah, so let her drink! 13 But they cried him lies, and hamstrung her, so their Lord crushed them for their sin, and leveled them: 14 He did not fear the consequences. 15
God the Almighty always says the truth.
