The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the sun and its heat and brightness, 1 By the moon when it followeth it, 2 And [by] the day when it displays it 3 by the night, when it envelops it! 4 Consider the sky and its wondrous make, 5 and by the earth and by Him Who stretched it out; 6 By the soul, and That which shaped it 7 and imbued it with (the consciousness of) its evil and its piety: 8 He is indeed successful who causeth it to grow, 9 and he who corrupts it is sure to fail. 10 Thamood belied in their pride 11 when the most wicked of them broke forth, 12 So Allah's apostle said to them (Leave alone) Allah's she-camel, and (give) her (to) drink. 13 But they called him a liar and hamstrung her. So God obliterated them for their crime, and (destroyed) all of them alike. 14 He does not fear the consequence. 15
