The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
And by the sun and its brightness; 1 and by the moon as it follows it; 2 Consider the day as it reveals the world, 3 by the night, when it envelops it! 4 By the heaven and That which built it 5 And by oath of the earth and by oath of Him Who spread it. 6 By the soul, and That which shaped it 7 and inspired it with its sin and its piety, 8 Prosperous is he who purifies it, 9 And indeed he fails who corrupts his ownself (i.e. disobeys what Allah has ordered by rejecting the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism or by following polytheism, etc. or by doing every kind of evil wicked deeds). 10 The Thamud denied (the truth) in their perverseness 11 when the most corrupt of them incited them (to commit evil). 12 Then the apostle of Allah said unto them: beware of the she-camel of Allah and her drink. 13 However, they rejected him and slew her. So their Lord completely destroyed them and their city for their sins. 14 And He fears not its consequence. 15
