Al-Shams

The Sun (Al-Shams)

15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)

In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful

By the sun and his brightness, 1 and by the moon as it follows it; 2 And by oath of the day when it reveals it 3 And [by] the night when it covers it 4 By the heaven and That which built it 5 By the Earth and its (wide) expanse: 6 And by oath of the soul and by oath of Him Who made it proper. 7 And inspired in it the knowledge of its sins and its piety. 8 prosperous is he who purified it, 9 and he who suppresses it will be ruined. 10 Thamood belied in their pride 11 When the most wicked man among them went forth (to kill the she-camel). 12 Then Allah's Messenger warned them: “Hands off the she-camel and her drink!” 13 However, they rejected him and slew her. So their Lord completely destroyed them and their city for their sins. 14 And He (Allah) feared not the consequences thereof. 15

True are the words of God the Almighty.
