Al-Shams
The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER the sun and its radiant brightness, 1 And the moon when she followeth him, 2 And the day when it shows it, 3 The night when it covers him over, 4 And [by] the sky and He who constructed it 5 And by the earth and Him Who spread it, 6 And a soul and Him Who perfected it 7 and inspired it with its sin and its piety, 8 those who purify their souls will certainly have everlasting happiness 9 And he will indeed fail who corrupts it. 10 Thamood belied in their pride 11 when the most wretched of them uprose, 12 But the Messenger of Allah [Salih (Saleh)] said to them: "Be cautious! Fear the evil end. That is the she-camel of Allah! (Do not harm it) and bar it not from having its drink!" 13 However, they rejected him and slew her. So their Lord completely destroyed them and their city for their sins. 14 He does not fear the result (of their destruction). 15
God the Almighty always says the truth.
