The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the night when it envelopeth, 1 and by the day as it appears radiantly, 2 and by the creation of the male and the female. 3 Verily, (the ends) ye strive for are diverse. 4 Then as for him who gives away and guards (against evil), 5 and affirmed the Truth of goodness: 6 for him shall We make easy the path towards [ultimate] ease. 7 As for him who was a miser and behaved with aversion (to Allah), 8 And gives the lie to the best,- 9 We shall facilitate the path to affliction 10 And his substance will avail him not when he perisheth. 11 Surely upon Us rests the guidance, 12 And truly, unto Us (belong) the last (Hereafter) and the first (this world). 13 Therefore I have warned you of a Fire blazing fiercely (Hell); 14 None shall roast therein but the most wretched, 15 Who belieth and turneth away. 16 and from which the most godfearing shall be removed, 17 the Godfearing who spends his wealth to purify himself; 18 And no one has with him any boon for which he should be rewarded, 19 seeking only the Face of his Lord, the Most High, 20 And presently he shall become well pleased. 21
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
