The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Night as it conceals (the light); 1 By the day when it appeareth in glory, 2 And the creating of the male and the female, 3 surely your striving is to diverse ends. 4 As for him who giveth and is dutiful (toward Allah) 5 and believes in the finest, 6 Unto him therefore We shall indeed make easy the path to ease. 7 As for him who was a miser and behaved with aversion (to Allah), 8 and cries lies to the reward most fair, 9 For him We shall ease the way of adversity, 10 and his wealth shall be of no avail to him when he perishes. 11 Indeed, [incumbent] upon Us is guidance. 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 Now I have warned you of a Fire that flames, 14 None shall roast therein but the most wretched, 15 He who denieth and turneth away. 16 But save him who fears 17 And gives of his wealth that he may grow in virtue, 18 not as payment for any favours that he received, 19 only seeking the Face of his Lord the Most High; 20 And he shall soon be well-pleased. 21
Almighty God's Truth.
