Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the night when it enshrouds, 1 And by the day as it appears in brightness; 2 And by Who created the male and female, 3 Your striving is most surely (directed to) various (ends). 4 As for one who gives [to others] and fears [God], 5 and confirms the reward most fair, 6 We will facilitate for him the easy end. 7 But as for one who is miserly and unheeding, 8 and cries lies to the reward most fair, 9 We will facilitate for him the difficult end. 10 And his substance will avail him not when he perisheth. 11 Surely it is for Us to show the Right Way, 12 And indeed, to Us belongs the Hereafter and the first [life]. 13 I have now warned you of the Blazing Fire, 14 Which only the most wretched must endure, 15 The one who denied and turned away. 16 Far removed from it will be the righteous 17 Who giveth his wealth that he may grow (in goodness). 18 And no one has done a favour to him, for which he should be compensated. 19 acting only for the sake of his Lord the Most High -- 20 Will surely be gratified. 21
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
