The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the night when it envelopeth, 1 and the day as it rises bright! 2 And by oath of the One Who created the male and the female. 3 Verily, [O men,] you aim at most divergent ends! 4 As for him who gives (in charity) and keeps his duty to Allah and fears Him, 5 And testifieth to the Good, 6 for him shall We make easy the path towards [ultimate] ease. 7 But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need 8 And disbelieveth in goodness; 9 For him We shall ease the way of adversity, 10 When he falls (into Hell), his wealth will not help him. 11 Indeed guiding is upon Us. 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 Therefore do I warn you of a Fire blazing fiercely; 14 None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one. 15 Who belieth and turneth away. 16 Far removed from it will be the righteous 17 [He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself 18 and owes no favour to anyone, which is to be repaid, 19 He desires only to please his Lord, the Supreme. 20 and such, indeed, shall in time be well-pleased. 21
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
