The Night (Al-Layl)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the night, when it envelops, 1 and the day as it rises bright! 2 By (the mystery of) the creation of male and female;- 3 Indeed your efforts differ. 4 As for one who gives [to others] and fears [God], 5 And testifieth to the Good, 6 We will ease him toward ease. 7 But he who does not give and is unconcerned, 8 And gives the lie to the best,- 9 We shall facilitate the path to affliction 10 nor will his wealth profit him when he falls [into the pit]. 11 Lo! Ours it is (to give) the guidance 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 So, I warn you of the blazing Fire. 14 None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one. 15 who denied [the truth], and turned away. 16 And away from it shall be kept the one who guards most (against evil), 17 Who giveth away his substance that he may be cleansed, 18 not as payment for any favours that he received, 19 seeking only the Face of his Lord, the Most High, 20 And indeed, soon he will be very pleased. 21
