The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
I swear by the night when it draws a veil, 1 And the day when it shines in all its glory, 2 And by Who created the male and female, 3 you strive in various ways. 4 As for one who gives [to others] and fears [God], 5 And believes in Al-Husna. 6 We will facilitate for him the easy end. 7 But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need 8 and he belied the finest 9 We will ease him toward difficulty. 10 nor will his wealth profit him when he falls [into the pit]. 11 Verily We take upon Ourselves to guide, 12 and, behold, Ours is [the dominion over] the life to come as well as [over] this earlier part [of your life]: 13 Therefore do I warn you of a Fire blazing fiercely; 14 [the fire] which none shall have to endure but that most hapless wretch 15 Who gives the lie (to the truth) and turns (his) back. 16 But the righteous one will avoid it - 17 He who gives his wealth to be purified, 18 and confers no favor upon anyone for recompense 19 Other than seeking the glory of his Lord, most high, 20 And soon will they attain (complete) satisfaction. 21
