The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
I CALL THE night to witness when it covers over, 1 and by the day when it unveils. 2 and by Him Who created the male and the female: 3 Certainly, your efforts and deeds are diverse (different in aims and purposes); 4 As for him who gave out his wealth (for Allah's sake) and abstained (from disobeying Him), 5 and believes in the finest, 6 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Bliss. 7 And as for him who stinteth and is heedless, 8 And rejects goodness, 9 We will ease him toward difficulty. 10 And his substance will avail him not when he perisheth. 11 BEHOLD, it is indeed for Us to grace [you] with guidance; 12 And verily unto Us (belong) the End and the Beginning. 13 and so I warn you of the raging fire 14 whereat none but the most wretched shall be roasted, 15 who gives the lie to the truth and turns away [from it]. 16 and from which the most godfearing shall be removed, 17 one who gives his wealth to become purified, 18 And who hath no favour from anyone to recompense. 19 acting only for the sake of his Lord the Most High -- 20 And soon will they attain (complete) satisfaction. 21
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
