The Night (Al-Layl)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the night enshrouding 1 And the day resplendent 2 And the creating of the male and the female, 3 Indeed your efforts differ. 4 As for him who gives (in charity) and keeps his duty to Allah and fears Him, 5 and believes in the truth of the ultimate good 6 We shall surely ease him to the Easing. 7 And as for him who stinteth and is heedless, 8 and he belied the finest 9 Surely We will ease his way unto adversity. 10 nor will his wealth profit him when he falls [into the pit]. 11 Lo! Ours it is (to give) the guidance 12 and to Us belong the hereafter and the worldly life. 13 I have warned you about the fierce blazing fire 14 No one will burn in it but the most wretched, 15 who belied and turned away, 16 and from which the cautious shall be distanced. 17 Those who spend their wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 not as payment for any favours that he received, 19 But only the desire to seek for the Countenance of their Lord Most High; 20 He surely will be pleased (when he will enter Paradise). 21
