The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the night when it covers 1 and the day in splendour 2 and That which created the male and the female, 3 Indeed, your efforts are diverse. 4 As for him who giveth and is dutiful (toward Allah) 5 and believes in the truth of the ultimate good 6 We will ease him toward ease. 7 But he who does not give and is unconcerned, 8 and have no faith in receiving any reward (from God). 9 Surely We will ease his way unto adversity. 10 and his wealth shall be of no avail to him when he perishes. 11 Truly! Ours it is (to give) guidance, 12 and to Us belongs the Hereafter as well as the present world -- 13 So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing. 14 Which only the most wretched must endure, 15 Who denies and turns away. 16 For, distant from it shall remain he who is truly conscious of God: 17 [He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself 18 not as payment for any favours that he received, 19 but only to seek the good pleasure of his Lord Most High. 20 He will surely be well-pleased (with him). 21
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
