The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I swear by the night when it draws a veil, 1 And the day when it shines in brightness, 2 And [by] He who created the male and female, 3 Lo! your effort is dispersed (toward divers ends). 4 Thus, as for him who gives [to others] and is conscious of God, 5 and believes in the finest, 6 Unto him therefore We shall indeed make easy the path to ease. 7 But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need 8 And denied the best matter, 9 We will ease him toward difficulty. 10 And what will his wealth avail him when he falls? 11 Indeed, Guidance is Ours, 12 And verify Ours is both the Hereafter and the life present. 13 Therefore do I warn you of a Fire blazing fiercely; 14 None shall reach it but those most unfortunate ones 15 Who belieth and turneth away. 16 One who fears God shall be kept away from it -- 17 He who spends his wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 And none hath with him any favour for reward, 19 but only to seek the good pleasure of his Lord Most High. 20 and the reward (of their Lord) will certainly make them happy. 21
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
