The Night (Al-Layl)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the night as it envelops; 1 by the day when it appears radiant, 2 and by that (Power) which created the male and female, 3 Certainly, your efforts and deeds are diverse (different in aims and purposes); 4 So he who gives (in charity) and fears (Allah), 5 and confirms the reward most fair, 6 We will pave his way to ease. 7 And for him who hoarded wealth and remained carefree, 8 and have no faith in receiving any reward (from God). 9 We will make smooth for him the path for evil; 10 And what will his wealth avail him when he falls? 11 Indeed, Guidance is Ours, 12 And to Us belong the End and the Beginning. 13 I have warned you then about a raging Fire: 14 in which none shall be roasted except the most wretched sinner, 15 Who had denied and turned away. 16 And away from it shall be kept the one who guards most (against evil), 17 Who giveth his wealth that he may grow (in goodness). 18 They do not expect any reward 19 seeking only the Face of his Lord, the Most High, 20 And indeed, soon he will be very pleased. 21
