The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
CONSIDER the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 by the day when it appears radiant, 2 And Him who created the male and female, 3 you strive in various ways. 4 We shall facilitate the path to bliss 5 and confirms the reward most fair, 6 We shall facilitate for him the Way to Bliss. 7 And for him who hoarded wealth and remained carefree, 8 And disbelieveth in goodness; 9 We will make smooth for him the path for evil; 10 His wealth will not avail him when he falls into ruin. 11 Verily We take upon Ourselves to guide, 12 And indeed, to Us belongs the Hereafter and the first [life]. 13 and so I warn you of the raging fire 14 in which none shall be roasted except the most wretched sinner, 15 even he who cried lies, and turned away; 16 and from which the most godfearing shall be removed, 17 Who gives away his wealth, purifying himself 18 and owes no favour to anyone, which is to be repaid, 19 acting only for the sake of his Lord the Most High -- 20 He verily will be content. 21
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
