The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the night when it enshrouds, 1 And the day when it shines in brightness, 2 By Him Who hath created the male and the female, 3 That your endeavour is for different ends. 4 Thus, as for him who gives [to others] and is conscious of God, 5 and believes in the truth of what is right, 6 We shall surely ease him to the Path of Easing; 7 But as for him who is niggardly, and thinks that he is self-sufficient, 8 And denies the best [reward], 9 We shall pave his way to hardship, 10 And his substance will avail him not when he perisheth. 11 Surely, it is for Us to provide guidance -- 12 and to Us belong the hereafter and the worldly life. 13 I have now warned you of a Blazing Fire, 14 None shall roast therein but the most wretched, 15 Who belieth and turneth away. 16 But save him who fears 17 He who spends his wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 and confers no favor upon anyone for recompense 19 Other than seeking the glory of his Lord, most high, 20 Will surely be gratified. 21

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
