The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 and the day in splendour 2 Consider the creation of the male and the female! 3 Verily your endeavour is diverse. 4 Thus, as for him who gives [to others] and is conscious of God, 5 and believes in the truth of the ultimate good 6 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Bliss. 7 But he who does not give and is unconcerned, 8 And disbelieveth in goodness; 9 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Misery; 10 and his wealth shall be of no avail to him when he perishes. 11 Indeed, Guidance is Ours, 12 And lo! unto Us belong the latter portion and the former. 13 Now I have warned you of a Fire that flames, 14 in which none shall be roasted except the most wretched sinner, 15 who have rejected the (Truth) and have turned away from it. 16 For, distant from it shall remain he who is truly conscious of God: 17 Who giveth his wealth that he may grow (in goodness). 18 And who hath no favour from anyone to recompense. 19 acting only for the sake of his Lord the Most High -- 20 surely, he shall be satisfied. 21
Almighty Allah's Truth.
