The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
CONSIDER the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 And the day resplendent 2 and by that (Power) which created the male and female, 3 Your striving is most surely (directed to) various (ends). 4 So for one who gave and practised piety 5 And believes in Al-Husna. 6 observe piety, and believe in receiving rewards from God. 7 But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need 8 And denies the best [reward], 9 We shall surely ease for him the Path of Hardship (the Fire). 10 And his substance will avail him not when he perisheth. 11 Surely upon Us rests the guidance, 12 And verify Ours is both the Hereafter and the life present. 13 and so I warn you of the raging fire 14 none shall enter it but the most wicked, 15 who have rejected the (Truth) and have turned away from it. 16 And Al-Muttaqun (the pious and righteous - see V. 2:2) will be far removed from it (Hell). 17 one who gives his wealth to become purified, 18 And have in his mind no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 except the pleasure of their Lord, the Most High 20 And presently he shall become well pleased. 21
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
