The Night (Al-Layl)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the night as it envelops; 1 By the day when it appeareth in glory, 2 and by Him Who created the male and the female: 3 you strive in various ways. 4 So he who gives (in charity) and fears (Allah), 5 and confirms the reward most fair, 6 So We will very soon provide him ease. 7 But he who does not give and is unconcerned, 8 And denied the best matter, 9 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Misery; 10 nor will his wealth profit him when he falls [into the pit]. 11 Surely it is for Us to show the Right Way, 12 and to Us belongs the Hereafter as well as the present world -- 13 I therefore warn you of the fire that is ablaze. 14 None shall roast therein but the most wretched, 15 Who denies and turns away. 16 And Al-Muttaqun (the pious and righteous - see V. 2:2) will be far removed from it (Hell). 17 the Godfearing who spends his wealth to purify himself; 18 They do not expect any reward 19 Other than seeking the glory of his Lord, most high, 20 And indeed, soon he will be very pleased. 21
