The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the night, when it envelops, 1 and by the day when it breaks in its glory, 2 and That which created the male and the female, 3 you strive in various ways. 4 As for him who gave out his wealth (for Allah's sake) and abstained (from disobeying Him), 5 and believes in the truth of what is right, 6 We shall surely ease him to the Easing. 7 But he who is greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient. 8 and rejects what is right, 9 So We will very soon provide him hardship. 10 And his riches will not avail him when he falls headlong (into the Abyss). 11 Indeed guiding is upon Us. 12 And lo! unto Us belong the latter portion and the former. 13 I have warned you about the fierce blazing fire 14 None shall enter it but the most unhappy, 15 Who gives the lie (to the truth) and turns (his) back. 16 and from which the cautious shall be distanced. 17 Who giveth his wealth that he may grow (in goodness). 18 They do not expect any reward 19 but only to seek the good pleasure of his Lord Most High. 20 And presently he shall become well pleased. 21
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
