The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the night when it envelopeth, 1 And by the day as it appears in brightness; 2 By Him Who hath created the male and the female, 3 Indeed your efforts differ. 4 As for him who gives (in charity) and keeps his duty to Allah and fears Him, 5 for those who spend for the cause of God, 6 We shall surely ease him to the Path of Easing; 7 But he who does not give and is unconcerned, 8 and he belied the finest 9 We shall surely ease for him the Path of Hardship (the Fire). 10 and his wealth shall be of no avail to him when he perishes. 11 Indeed guiding is upon Us. 12 And verily unto Us (belong) the End and the Beginning. 13 I have warned you about the fierce blazing fire 14 in which no one will suffer forever except the wicked ones 15 Who belieth and turneth away. 16 One who fears God shall be kept away from it -- 17 [He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself 18 And is under no one's obligation to return his favour, 19 but only to seek the good pleasure of his Lord Most High. 20 And presently he shall become well pleased. 21
