The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the night, when it envelops, 1 And by the day as it appears in brightness; 2 and by that (Power) which created the male and female, 3 Verily, [O men,] you aim at most divergent ends! 4 We shall facilitate the path to bliss 5 and believes in the truth of the ultimate good 6 We will make smooth for him the path of ease (goodness). 7 As for him who was a miser and behaved with aversion (to Allah), 8 And disbelieveth in goodness; 9 We will ease him toward difficulty. 10 and his wealth shall be of no avail to him when he perishes. 11 Surely upon Us rests the guidance, 12 And lo! unto Us belong the latter portion and the former. 13 Wherefore I have warned you of Fire flaming, 14 None except the most wicked will enter it. 15 He who denieth and turneth away. 16 And Al-Muttaqun (the pious and righteous - see V. 2:2) will be far removed from it (Hell). 17 Who giveth his wealth that he may grow (in goodness). 18 And who hath no favour from anyone to recompense. 19 But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High. 20 He will surely be well-pleased (with him). 21
