The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night enshrouding 1 And by oath of the day when it shines 2 and by that (Power) which created the male and female, 3 surely your strivings are divergent. 4 As for him who gave out his wealth (for Allah's sake) and abstained (from disobeying Him), 5 And believes in Al-Husna. 6 We will make smooth for him the path of ease (goodness). 7 But he who is a greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient, 8 And who belieth the Good, 9 Unto him therefore We shall Indeed make easy the path to hardship. 10 And his wealth will not avail him when he perishes. 11 Indeed guiding is upon Us. 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 I have warned you then about a raging Fire: 14 None except the most wicked will enter it. 15 Who denies and turns away. 16 He will be far away from the most pious. (The first Caliph S. Abu Bakr Siddiq) 17 [He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself 18 not as payment for any favours that he received, 19 but only out of a longing for the countenance of his Sustainer, the All-Highest: 20 He verily will be content. 21
