The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the night when it envelopeth, 1 And the day resplendent 2 and by that (Power) which created the male and female, 3 Your striving is most surely (directed to) various (ends). 4 So for one who gave and practised piety 5 and confirms the reward most fair, 6 for him shall We make easy the path towards [ultimate] ease. 7 And for him who hoarded wealth and remained carefree, 8 And disbelieveth in goodness; 9 We shall facilitate for him the way to Hardship, 10 His wealth will not avail him when he falls into ruin. 11 Surely, in Our hands is guidance, 12 And indeed the Hereafter and this world both belong to Us. 13 I have now warned you of a Blazing Fire, 14 None shall enter it save the most wretched, 15 Who denied (the truth) and turned away. 16 And Al-Muttaqun (the pious and righteous - see V. 2:2) will be far removed from it (Hell). 17 even he who gives his wealth. to purify himself 18 And no one has with him any boon for which he should be rewarded, 19 He desires only to please his Lord, the Supreme. 20 And presently he shall become well pleased. 21
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
