The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the Night as it conceals (the light); 1 and the day in splendour 2 And by Him Who created male and female; 3 your striving is indeed to different ends! 4 Then as for him who giveths and feareth Him. 5 And accepts the best, 6 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Bliss. 7 But he who is greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient. 8 And rejects goodness, 9 So We will very soon provide him hardship. 10 And his substance will avail him not when he perisheth. 11 Surely Ours is it to show the way, 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 So, I warn you of the blazing Fire. 14 [the fire] which none shall have to endure but that most hapless wretch 15 who belied and turned away, 16 But save him who fears 17 Those who spend their wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 And is under no one's obligation to return his favour, 19 But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High. 20 surely, he shall be satisfied. 21
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
