The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the night enshrouding 1 By the Day as it appears in glory; 2 And Him who created the male and female, 3 you strive in various ways. 4 Thus, as for him who gives [to others] and is conscious of God, 5 and believes in the truth of what is right, 6 We will facilitate for him the easy end. 7 but for him that is a miser, and sufficed, 8 and rejects what is right, 9 We shall surely ease for him the Path of Hardship (the Fire). 10 And his wealth will not avail him when he perishes. 11 Verify on us is the guidance 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 So, I warn you of the blazing Fire. 14 None except the most wicked will enter it. 15 Who denies and turns away. 16 But the God-fearing shall be kept away from it, 17 He who gives his wealth to be purified, 18 and confers no favor upon anyone for recompense 19 Except only the desire to seek the Countenance of his Lord, the Most High; 20 And he is going to be satisfied. 21
