The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 and the day as it rises bright! 2 And by oath of the One Who created the male and the female. 3 Verily, (the ends) ye strive for are diverse. 4 So he who gives (in charity) and fears (Allah), 5 and confirms the reward most fair, 6 We will pave his way to ease. 7 But he who is greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient. 8 And denied the best matter, 9 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Misery; 10 And his wealth will not avail him when he perishes. 11 It is indeed for Us to show the way, 12 And most surely Ours is the hereafter and the former. 13 So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing. 14 in which no one will suffer forever except the wicked ones 15 who rejected the Truth, calling it falsehood and turned his back on it. 16 And avoid it shall the most pious, 17 the Godfearing who spends his wealth to purify himself; 18 And none hath with him any favour for reward, 19 But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High. 20 He surely will be pleased (when he will enter Paradise). 21
True are the words of God the Almighty.
