The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the Night as it conceals (the light); 1 and by the day when it breaks in its glory, 2 By Him Who hath created the male and the female, 3 Verily, (the ends) ye strive for are diverse. 4 As for him who gives and is godfearing 5 and affirmed the Truth of goodness: 6 We shall surely ease him to the Path of Easing; 7 And as for him who is niggardly and considers himself free from need (of Allah), 8 and cries lies to the reward most fair, 9 We will facilitate for him the difficult end. 10 And his wealth will not avail him when he perishes. 11 Surely, it is for Us to provide guidance -- 12 and to Us belong the Next Life and the present. 13 I have now warned you of a Blazing Fire, 14 No one will burn in it but the most wretched, 15 who have rejected the (Truth) and have turned away from it. 16 But save him who fears 17 Who giveth his wealth that he may grow (in goodness). 18 And who hath no favour from anyone to recompense. 19 Other than seeking the glory of his Lord, most high, 20 And soon will they attain (complete) satisfaction. 21
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
