Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
CONSIDER the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 And by oath of the day when it shines 2 And Him Who hath created male and female, 3 Verily your endeavour is diverse. 4 As for him who gives (in charity) and keeps his duty to Allah and fears Him, 5 And affirms goodness, 6 We shall ease the way of fortune for him. 7 But for those who are niggardly, horde their wealth, 8 and he belied the finest 9 For him We shall ease the way of adversity, 10 And his wealth will not avail him when he perishes. 11 Indeed, Guidance is Ours, 12 And lo! unto Us belong the latter portion and the former. 13 Therefore do I warn you of a Fire blazing fiercely; 14 None shall enter it but the most unhappy, 15 Who gives the lie (to the truth) and turns (his) back. 16 And avoid it shall the most pious, 17 And gives of his wealth that he may grow in virtue, 18 And who hath no favour from anyone to recompense. 19 But only seeking the Countenance of his Lord the Most High. 20 Will surely be gratified. 21
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
