The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night enshrouding 1 by the day when it appears radiant, 2 and by the creation of the male and the female. 3 Verily, (the ends) ye strive for are diverse. 4 As for him who giveth and is dutiful (toward Allah) 5 And believes in Al-Husna. 6 We shall facilitate for him the Way to Bliss. 7 But as for one who is miserly and unheeding, 8 And rejects goodness, 9 For him We shall ease the way of adversity, 10 his wealth shall not avail him when he perishes. 11 Surely, it is for Us to provide guidance -- 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 Therefore I warn you of the fire that flames: 14 None except the most wicked will enter it. 15 Who denied (the truth) and turned away. 16 But those most devoted to Allah shall be removed far from it,- 17 Who gives his wealth in order to be pure. 18 And have in their minds no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 Other than seeking the glory of his Lord, most high, 20 And he shall soon be well-pleased. 21
