The Night (Al-Layl)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By oath of the night when it covers 1 and the day as it rises bright! 2 And [by] He who created the male and female, 3 Indeed, your efforts are diverse. 4 As for him who gives and is godfearing 5 and believes in the finest, 6 We shall surely ease him to the Path of Easing; 7 But as for one who is miserly and unheeding, 8 and he belied the finest 9 We shall facilitate the path to affliction 10 His wealth will not avail him when he falls into ruin. 11 It is indeed for Us to show the way, 12 and, behold, Ours is [the dominion over] the life to come as well as [over] this earlier part [of your life]: 13 Therefore I have warned you of a Fire blazing fiercely (Hell); 14 None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one. 15 who gives the lie to the truth and turns away [from it]. 16 But those most devoted to Allah shall be removed far from it,- 17 Who gives away his wealth, purifying himself 18 not as payment for favours received, 19 seeking only the Face of his Lord, the Most High, 20 And indeed, soon he will be very pleased. 21
