Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night when it covers 1 and the day as it rises bright! 2 And [by] He who created the male and female, 3 your striving is indeed to different ends! 4 As for him who gives and is godfearing 5 and believes in the truth of the ultimate good 6 We shall surely ease him to the Path of Easing; 7 But as for him who hoardeth and deemeth himself independent, 8 And who belieth the Good, 9 We will facilitate for him the difficult end. 10 his wealth shall not avail him when he perishes. 11 Indeed guiding is upon Us. 12 And verify Ours is both the Hereafter and the life present. 13 So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing. 14 None shall reach it but those most unfortunate ones 15 who belied and turned away, 16 For, distant from it shall remain he who is truly conscious of God: 17 Those who spend their wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 and confers no favor upon anyone for recompense 19 acting only for the sake of his Lord the Most High -- 20 And he shall soon be well-pleased. 21
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
